Nourishing the Mind
What if mental wellbeing didn’t start in the brain alone — but in the soil, the food we grow, and the way we nourish ourselves and our communities?
Nourishing the Mind is a full-day, psychiatrist-led masterclass exploring the powerful links between food quality, soil health and mental wellbeing. Grounded in science yet accessible to all, the day brings together nutritional psychiatry, regenerative food systems and a One Health perspective (the interconnected health of people, animals and the environment).
Led by psychiatrist Dr Ivan Lin (RANZCP Fellow), with guest contributor Amanda Currie of Tinwald Farm, this immersive workshop is designed for GPs and health professionals (eligible for up to 13 RNZCGP CME credits), while remaining welcoming to farmers, growers and anyone curious about the deeper connections between nourishment and wellbeing.
The day includes:
– A visit to Sherwood’s organic vegetable garden
– Hands-on nutrient density testing and live soil microscopy
– A wood-fired banquet lunch from Sherwood’s two-hatted restaurant
– Practical insights connecting soil, food and mental health
You’ll leave with a clearer understanding of how nourishment shapes wellbeing — and practical ideas you can apply in clinical practice, on the farm, or in everyday life.
